Paris in January is a feast for all the senses.
The design world descends on the city for the multicultural crossroads of contemporary living – Paris bi-annual Maison et Objet trade show – all hungry for their taste of the new chic.
And even when it’s pouring rain (the Seine was flooding!) it’s quite impossible not to enjoy Paris, but it can’t all be work, so we’d love to share with you some of our secret spots, the things we LOVE, in any weather...

Maison Sarah Lavoine: new concept store at Place des Victoires is conceived like a home, so you can easily lose time there, and we did... checking out Riviera the new collection and stopping by for a coffee
Le Bon Marche: a must for any trip to Paris. There’s always something new happening, and the latest collaboration with Leandro Erlich who’s re-invented the majestic Andre Putman centrepiece and created those mysterious dreamy cloud hologram windows, is no exception... and then there’s the Grande Epicerie – just look at that olive oil wall!
Inspiration from past masters...
So many options: museums, galleries, and exhibitions and so little time. Sculpture has my heart, so start with a visit to the Rodin Museum and its garden. Be inspired by Atelier Brancusi, the recreated studio of the sculptor Brancusi, and a Cesar retrospective: both at the Centre Georges Pompidou, whose rooftop offers the best view of Paris.
Feasting for all your senses...in style, always
January in France means “galette des rois”. The best ones are at Du Pain et Des Idées –Paris 10th–, where your eyes will feast too... and they have the most spectacular ceiling, so don’t forget to look up..
If it’s simple elegance that you’re after, try l'Hotel des Arts et Metiers, designed by Raphael Navot,and for a more relaxed atmosphere, head to Palissades – all earthy tanned leathers and tin (near the very cute and secret Place Sainte Marthe, in the 10th) You’re welcome.
For a girls night out, The Hoxton Paris, is the new place to see and be seen, and you can stay there too – discover each of the surprising areas, a DJ, and yes those are our magnificent Honoré velvet chairs in glorious gold colour you spotted on the terrace...
